Minister Petkov and the social partners reached agreement on the texts of Convention 131 of ILO



At minister Biser Petkov’s initiative a meeting was held today with representatives of the nationally representative organisations of employers and the syndicates, which reached an agreement on the text of Convention 131 of the International Labour Organisation (ILO), proposed for ratification, for setting the amount of the minimum wage. The Council of Ministers will adopt a decision for a proposal to the National Assembly to ratify the convention.

 

The meeting was attended by deputy minister Sultanka Petrova, leaders and experts of the nationally representative organisations of employers and workers.

 

During the talks the social partners achieved significant progress on the main texts of the draft of a Framework Agreement on the minimum wage negotiation procedure in the country. Questions were discussed related to the introduction of guarantees of the inclusion of the social partners in the negotiation procedure. The timeframe of the negotiations, the scope of the social and economic indicators supporting the negotiation process, the corridor along which the amount of the minimum wage, as well as the role of the state in this process were also discussed.
