SULTANKA DIMITROVA PETROVA Deputy Minister of Labour and Social Policy
As a deputy minister of labour and social policy Sultanka Petrova will be in charge of the organization and coordination of the ministry’s work in the area of labour incomes and living standards, social economy, demographic policy, corporate social responsibility and planning. She will be responsible for the work of Directorate “Strategic Planning and Demographic Policy” and the National Institute of Reconciliation and Arbitration.
Sultanka Petrova has a Ph.D. in pedagogy. She holds a masters degree in primary and preschool pedagogy from Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski” which she graduated as a specialist in social work. She graduated the Medical College for Health Workers “Yordanka Filaretova.
In 2002 she joined the IMPRO – Bulgarian National Movement Party and becomes head of the National Women’s Organization of the party the next year. She is member of the Macedonian Scientific Union. She initiated a number of cultural and public events marking historical dates and holidays.
In the 2014 general elections she was elected an MP in the 43d National Assembly. From the beginning of 2009 to October 2014 she was President of the Balkan Food Safety Centre. From 1984 to the end of 2008 she worked as a health inspector at the Sofia Regional Public Health Protection and Control Inspectorate.
The social engagement and active charity activities of Sultanka Petrova are predominantly focused on children deprived of parental care and elderly people. She has actively cooperated with the civic sector in finding solutions to social and health problems, addressing issues relating to the demographic crisis, education, poverty and youth unemployment.
